Home Team Housing Makes Critical Repairs, Removes Barriers

Community Stories

A grant from the Community Foundation for Mason County provided by Mason County Funds for the Community has helped Home Team Housing complete critical home repairs to ensure that 18 local families could avoid crisis and remain in their homes. The grant addressed urgent housing needs such as heating, plumbing, and structural issues.

“Being able to help folks in low-income situations secure safer, more quality housing by assisting with critical home repairs is a success,” said Jamie Healy, executive director of Home Team Housing. “Not only are those families more likely to thrive when they are not stressing about housing issues, but we are improving the housing stock in our community.”

The grant, coupled with contributions from other community partners and Home Team Housing’s fundraising efforts, allowed the organization to cover 75% of the repair costs, making the repairs affordable for homeowners. “We are stronger together. By working collaboratively in the community, we maximize our impact,” said Healy.

The impact of these repairs goes beyond just physical improvements. Helping families and individuals achieve their goals of a safe and healthy home without jeopardizing their financial stability removes barriers for them to be successful in other areas of their lives, contributing to a stronger and more vibrant community.
