Youth Advisory Council

Youth Voices Matter Too

The Youth Advisory Council of Mason County (YAC) is a collective of 20+ youth grantmakers who represent Mason County area high schools. Learn more about and support their work.

What is YAC?

The Youth Advisory Council is a special “youth as grantmakers” project of the Community Foundation for Mason County. The YAC is made up of student representatives from Mason County schools and supported by adult advisors. They engage in solving real problems affecting their communities and peers.

Join the YAC!

Tackle important issues like youth mental health, teen substance abuse and prevention, and academic stress - problems many of your peers face daily. As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to serve to make a positive impact. You’ll even help decide how thousands of dollars are spent on youth related projects in Mason County every year. Sound interesting? Keep an eye out for recruitment each spring when the application process opens. Current 8th – 11th grade students who live in Mason County are welcome to apply.

Help Make a Difference

YAC meets every month to distribute over $20,000 each year to local organizations and projects that support youth. Beyond grantmaking, YAC members also plan community service projects and visit the organizations they fund to see the impact firsthand.
