Meade Township Celebrates Grand Opening of New Pickleball Court, Thanks to Community Foundation Grant

Meade Township residents can now enjoy a brand new pickleball court at the Meade Township Park, thanks to a Community Foundation grant provided by Mason County Funds for the Community and the Robert R. and Joan Hasenbank Fund. The project, which began in December 2023, was completed in August with an official grand opening ceremony held on September 8th.

“We were thrilled to learn that Meade Township was awarded a grant from the Mason County Community Foundation,” said Susan Hasenbank of Meade Township. The township’s goals for the project were to provide a local space for residents to play pickleball, enjoy a safe outdoor activity, and socialize while staying active.

The township is optimistic about the project’s impact on the community. “It is anticipated that the court will be in use on a regular basis as many residents have expressed interest in a nearby location to play the sport,” said Hasenbank.

The project has garnered strong community support, which could lead to future park developments. “We feel that community support of this project has been very positive,” shared Hasenbank. “This could lead to other park development such as playground equipment for families in the community to utilize.”

Meade Township expressed its gratitude to the Community Foundation for its financial support, which made the project possible. “We probably would not have forged ahead with this project without the financial support,” said Hasenbank.
