Gene & Ruthann Kyle: Leaving a Legacy

Gene and Ruthann Kyle grew up in a small town in Indiana and were introduced to philanthropy from a young age by their families. When they moved to Ludington to be near their grandchildren, they didn’t waste any time getting involved in the community. From volunteering at the senior center, leading a Women Who Care group, supporting the local pickleball community, to volunteering at the Visitor Information Center, they are a dynamic duo.

After serving in the Air Force Gene had a successful career as a special education teacher and administrator.  Before they were married, Ruthann joined the Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) to help communities fight poverty. She worked with women to provide guidance and education, helping them become independent. While they have always given of their time and talents, they never imagined they would have the opportunity to leave a legacy of gifts to both the community in Indiana where they were born and raised, as well as the community they now call home.

Working with their financial planner, Gene and Ruthann included the Ludington All Around Senior fund and several other nonprofits in their Trust. Gene and Ruthann’s legacy and love for their community will live on forever in the gift they have left to the Community Foundation through their estate plan.

What do you love about Mason County? Two-thirds of Americans lack an up-to-date estate plan.  Now is a great time to make a plan to help you avoid unnecessary taxes, protect your loved ones, and give back to the community you love.
