Clinton & Lila Coleman and Charles & Margarette Reader Fund

Richard (Dick) and Cathy Reader have lived in numerous communities across the country throughout their marriage, but Mason County will always have a piece of their hearts.

The Reader family has been a large presence in Mason County for over 100 years.  Dick was raised in Custer and graduated from Ludington High School in 1967. While playing fastpitch softball and attending church in Scottville, he was able to make friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Participating in various activities across the county gave him the opportunity to experience all Mason County has to offer.

“I am so excited to be able to give back to the community that gave me my foundational background,” said Dick. “We hope to encourage others to see the impact giving back can have in our community.”

Cathy (Coleman) Reader grew up on her family’s farm on Hawley Road in Summit Township. Her grandparents, Manley French and Gladys Hawley, lived on the farm and were great influences in her life. She attended Ludington Schools and graduated in 1968. Like Dick’s family, both the French and Coleman families have been residents of Mason County since the early 1900s. Her parents were active members of the Mason County Farm Bureau and the Summit Church of Christ.

“Our families have both contributed and benefitted from being a part of this great community,” said Cathy. “We are thrilled to establish this fund to honor our parents.”

Dick and Cathy live in Phoenix, Arizona, and have established the Clinton & Lila Coleman and Charles & Margarette Reader Fund in memoriam of their parents. By choosing to establish an Unrestricted Fund, their gift will powerfully impact the priorities of Mason County.
